Henry J. Lewis and Company |
Henry J. Lewis and CompanyOttawa, Ontario This lure was produced by Vaughn's Tackle Co. in Cheboygan, Michigan in the 1930's and distributed by the Henry J. Lewis & Co. of 104 Rideau St. Ottawa, ON. As you can see by the photo, this box is very similar to the early American Vaughn box from the lure graphic, to the font type and colour scheme. It is unsure at this point whether or not Henry J. Lewis & Co. ever produced any tackle, or was simply a distributor of the tackle line. As the box suggests, it would appear they only distributed the product. I would love to have one of these lures in my collection, but having the box is what truly makes it a Canadian piece.
