Hotti Tackle Company

Hotti Tackle Company
Windsor, Ontario

The Hotti Tackle Company was started by a man named William A. Hotti in the 40's. At the time, Bill was the supervising manager of one of the most prosperous Canadian fishing lures on the market: Helin's Flatfish. Hotti was an avid fisherman and maintained strong social connections with everyone he met. As with many aspiring fishermen, Hotti decided to take the matter in his own hands and create some of his own lure designs. He came upon a magnificent metal spoon design he later named the "Cisco." According to the Cisco lure box insert, "The Cisco is the most modern and up-to-date artificial fishing lure yet on the market. It is the only bait on the market that may be trolled up to 8 miles per hour and catch fish. Open up your motor and watch the results...The Cisco is designed to imitate a live herring (Cisco) or minnow, and to carry 2 extra hooks which may be attached if desired. Because of scarcity of hooks it is now sold with one treble hook."

According to Walter (the third) Lindquist, the Hotti Tackle company was out of business soon after they sold the Cisco line to the Lindquists in the early 60's. The Cisco lure is still being sold today, and according to Lindquist, the dyes and equipment to make the Cisco have not changed - a true testament to another ingenious Canadian lure design.
