Baits AliveToronto, Ontario Very little to nothing is known about this company or the interesting concept lure they fashioned. I'm not even quite sure this "Minnow Sock" was ever patented as it seems the company may have been pusuing one. I don't often see these minnow socks around, so I can safely assume they are not still in production, and may have only had a minor stint as a viable company. It is hard to gauge the age of this contraption by the look of the hardware and the card illustrations, but I would assume it to be from the 60's or 70's. The whole premise of the Bait's Alive minnow sock was to save money on minnows by having your live bait safely secured in a metal mesh encasement. As novel as the idea seems, I'm sure it probably caused more frustration and headache than convenience and economic sense. I would love to see if the patent actually went through or not.

The original sales card of the Bait's Alive Minnow Sock which probably held 5-10 socks each. The pricing seems a little conflicting considering the 2 different prices of 50 and 75 cents posted. | | A close look at this interesting contraption. |
